Large Superb 19thC Antique Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Vase! This outstanding antique Chinese famille rose vase has a nice form with openwork figural handles on either side of the neck. It is decorated with a colorful enamel painted scene around the middle of animals and trees and flowers. It has exceptional detail to the artwork. There are also under and over glaze patterns around the bottom, shoulder, neck and top. It dates from the 19th Century and measures approximately 15 + ½ inches tall by approximately 9 inches across the shoulder and 6 + ½ inches across the foot rim. It is in excellent condition with the exception that the bottom piece of one of the handles has been re-attached, as can be seen in the photos. WE USE DAYLIGHT BULBS WHEN PHOTOGRAPHING. Large Aesthetic period vase in shades of Iron red, Cobalt blue and Gold with Light green details, all against a white background. Produced by the Minton factory in Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, England in 1888. It is decorated beautifully in the Imari palette with flowers, scrolls, leaves and gilding. The Condition is lovely, with just some very small firing cracks in the area of the decorative handles – I have shown close ups of these areas (including dust). The base is marked with the printed Mintons globe mark in puce, an iron red decorators mark and various impressed letters and numbers as follows. The date mark for 1888. The impressed numbers 2844, which identify the shape of this vase. According to the description in’Minton, The First Two Hundred Years of Design & Production’ by Joan Jones, it is described as’Vase with cover with Chinese base’ – we have never had a cover with it, though the dimensions would fit better with the book if it had. It measures 35 cm High and 20 cm Wide. The condition is excellent with only the very small firing cracks as detailed above. An antique 19thC Edme Samson of Paris large hand painted porcelain lidded urn / censer shaped vase standing on three legs with Foo Dog finial to the lid and decorated in chinoiserie famille verte Chinese export colourway with armorial cartouche with the Latin word ” Sperabo ” {Strong / Ready / Confident} and having pseudo chinese marking to the underside base. Edmé Samson was born in Paris in 1810. His company Edmé Samson et Cie was created in 1845 and is known for copying designs of other porcelain makers. Samson copied designs by Chelsea, Meissen, Sevres as well as many Chinese export porcelain items. The lidded urn is in very good displayed. Condition, there is a small chip to the interior lip of the lid that cannot be seen until the lid is turned upside down, the finial has an old glue repair where it has been remounted upon the lid, there is chip to one ear and a repair to the other ear of the Foo Dog finial all photographed above.
