Antique Asian Soapstone Vase, Hand Carved Chinese Art, LARGE and Very Rare

This gorgeous tall and elegant Chinese soapstone vase from early 20th century is finely hand carved and is one of the finest pieces of Chinese soapstone carvings. The artist carver chose a multi color stone to carve Fenghuang, mythical bird akin to Phoenix, along with another small bird plus Chinese mums & foliage on the rust red and black soapstone. The vase is done in a reticulated carving, giving the object an airy quality. Soapstone is soft and it is a good medium for carving very elaborate designs. But it is also fragile. This rare piece has remained fully intact without any chips or cracks through the years. Truly a very rare, highly collectible find. It stands10.5″ and is 7″ wide.
