Chinese Archaistic Bronze Vase Description and Item Information Up for sale is this old Chinese bronze vase. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This vessel has stylized, textured patterns in relief on its exterior, with two ring handles at the sides. It has a dark patina, with green verdigris, some reddish splotches, and what looks to be worn gold gilt decoration. This vessel stands approximately 12 1/8 inches tall, with a maximum diameter of about 10 3/4 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 8 pounds 7.6 ounces. It would be a fine addition to a collection of Asian antiques. Identification This vase has a three character mark beneath, as shown in Photo 9. The exact age is not known, but it is believed to be antique, in an archaistic style. Condition The vase looks good overall, as shown, with some wear, as expected with age. The finish has wear and soiling, as shown. A few minor edge dings and small, shallow dents are as found. There are some fine creases in the bronze. The interior has some wear and discoloration. This vase is finely hand decorated in the archaistic style with incised floral decoration throughout and applied bronze sections. Approximate height: 42.5cm (including stand) 36.5cm (excluding stand). Approximate width: 34.5cm. The condition is very good, with no apparent damage.
