A large Chinese famille rose enamelled vase, Qianlong seal mark but of later origin, of ovoid form with extended neck, painted with peach branches bearing ripe fruit and blossoms, and Chinese classical poetry. Peaches are a symbol of long life in China. The Queen Mother of the West, who ruled over one of the paradises, had peach trees that bloomed for thousands of years. It is very similar to the’ Vase with Nine Peaches. In New York’s Metropolitan Museum. See also the example in the collection of the British Museum.
