Up for your consideration is this authentic and very beautiful large Chinese Song Dynasty (960 – 1279) shipwreck pottery jar with original lid. Very well made and crafted from provincial kilns recovered off an unidentified shipwreck in the South Sea. The piece is in excellent condition considering its age and origin as being a shipwreck sea recovered piece with no chips or cracks. The piece would have had a complete shiny glaze covering it when first manufactured but has lost most of it due to ocean water degradation of it but some original glazing is present in areas. Both loop handles intact. No repairs or restoration. An unusually large piece measuring 7 1/4 in diameter and 6 1/4 in height. Makes for an impressive display!
