Large Aesthetic period vase in shades of Iron red, Cobalt blue and Gold with Light green details, all against a white background. Produced by the Minton factory in Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, England in 1888. It is decorated beautifully in the Imari palette with flowers, scrolls, leaves and gilding. The Condition is lovely, with just some very small firing cracks in the area of the decorative handles – I have shown close ups of these areas (including dust). The base is marked with the printed Mintons globe mark in puce, an iron red decorators mark and various impressed letters and numbers as follows. The date mark for 1888. The impressed numbers 2844, which identify the shape of this vase. According to the description in’Minton, The First Two Hundred Years of Design & Production’ by Joan Jones, it is described as’Vase with cover with Chinese base’ – we have never had a cover with it, though the dimensions would fit better with the book if it had. It measures 35 cm High and 20 cm Wide. The condition is excellent with only the very small firing cracks as detailed above.
