Amazing very large antique chinese cantonese bowl with open palace scene 19th C. In a wonderful perfect condition, only a tiny hard to see shallow 4mm chip on the outside of the rim, really nothing. Qing dynasty 19th Century.

The body of the vase is primarily people and from the neck upwards is primarily plants. Simply a fine Chinese porcelain vase! It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. There are old repaired chips to the rim and some wear to the enamel decoration. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. This large baluster Jar vase with cover has beautiful Mandarin Palette scenes with gold decorations and probably dates to the QIanlong Period. The vase was mounted as a lamp and has an old French Gilt bronze base. Condition: Heavily damaged in converstion to lamp. Lid has missing finial and hole and damages from drilling, base of vase is also drilled. THere is a small hairline in the mouth of the vase. Some chips on the mouth. Height 17 1/2 Inches 44.4 cm. Width 8 Inches 20.3 cm. Bronze WIdth 6 1/2 Inches 16.5 cm. Porcelain Height with Lid 16 Inches 40.7 cm. A Large and Rare Chinese Ming Underglazed blue and Underglazed Red Mei-ping with panels of Suzaku (Ancient Phoenix which represent the South), Mandarin ducks and Foliage Scrolls. The Vase mainly decorated by 100% Hand-painted underglazed blue motifs with little area of underglazed red, which is very rare and usually appeared in early Ming, It has a high and coarse unglazed foot rim (Photo 7 and 12), and a flared scallop narrow mouth on top decorated with flora tufts in underglazed blue and red (Photo 10 and 11). Three main panels seen among polygonal underglazed blue frame, with drawing of’Suzaku’ (Photo 1),’Two swimming mandarin ducks among foliage on water’ (Photo 3) and’Lotus flower with scroll of leaves’ (Photo 5) respectively, in between groups of scrolls fillings (Photo 2, 4 and 6). Above the panels is a band of red and blue blossoms with leaves scrolls linking them together (Photo 9), with another smaller scroll circling under the flared rim (Photo 10). A band of horizontal underglazed scrolls motif and an inverted’U’ shaped with 3 descending scrolls were seen, reflecting the common decoration pattern of a Ming vase. Dimension: Height x Diameter = 14.7″ x 8.6″ (37.5 cm x 22 cm). In excellent display conditions, with no cracks, no chips and no damage. A fantastic pair of Chinese Mandarin hand painted polychromatic famille rose baluster vases with flared necks. A lovely array of colours in raised enamel depicting Chinese courtyard life and festivities.. A feast for the eyes wherever you look, whether its the figures in the pavilion, the dragon kite scene, or the rowing boat out at sea. Nearly an identical pair, but a slightly darker green used on one of the vases and some of the detailing such as faces of figures and decoration deployed differ slightly. Has Chinese text on the bridge which could be a signature? – Would be very grateful for a translation. Difficult to date exactly, but I would place towards the end of the Qing period. In great condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.. Just very minor and negligible wear to enamel in areas such as one of the foo dog handles.
