Chinese’bottle’ vase with a 100 boys & dragon decor and famille rose decorations. Fairly large vintage vase displaying an appealing and playful scenery of children holding a stick dragon. A very festive and jolly depiction of an ancient theme: “One Hundred Boys” is a popular pictorial subject that expresses an agricultural society’s abiding wish for teeming male offspring. This ceramic vase has a blueish/grayish base tone. The hand painted overglaze enamels are still very glossy, vivid and vibrant. Probably manufactured mid-late 20th century. Marked on the bottom. No chips, no cracks. Height 33 cm or 13 inches. Diameter 21 cm or 8.3 inches.
