A fantastic pair of Chinese Mandarin hand painted polychromatic famille rose baluster vases with flared necks. A lovely array of colours in raised enamel depicting Chinese courtyard life and festivities.. A feast for the eyes wherever you look, whether its the figures in the pavilion, the dragon kite scene, or the rowing boat out at sea. Nearly an identical pair, but a slightly darker green used on one of the vases and some of the detailing such as faces of figures and decoration deployed differ slightly. Has Chinese text on the bridge which could be a signature? – Would be very grateful for a translation. Difficult to date exactly, but I would place towards the end of the Qing period. In great condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.. Just very minor and negligible wear to enamel in areas such as one of the foo dog handles. Height: 35.5 cm / 14 inch – Base Diameter: 14 cm / 5.5 inch – Width: 17.75 cm / 7 inch.
