19th Century Large Chinese Canton Vase Repaired. A lovely vase dating from around 1850. Decorated with chrysanthemum, famille rose and birds on a turquoise background. The neck has a pink background painted with green flowers and two blue 4 toed writhing dragons. The interior is painted green. Condition: The vase was restored over 100 years ago with good old fashioned rivets which were favoured at the time. This style of repair not only sets it aside from more modern copies but serves to prove its age. There is also a chip and repair to the rim. If displayed on a sideboard or table this vase looks most decorative and the repairs seem hardly noticeable. From one of Norfolks fine stately homes, an honest piece.
