Large Pair Of Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Alcove Vases, Late 19th Century. Here we have a pair of Japanese cloisonné enamel alcove vases. They are from the late 19th century, in the form of rounded hexagon form with waisted neck and flared foot, enamelled in colour with finches perched upon blossom branches and other flowers including lilies, on a blue ground. Both vases have a height of 24 inches (60.5 cm) & a overall diameter of 8.5 inches (22 cm). One weighs 3.11Kg. The damaged one weighs 2.95Kg. The pair are in decent condition. The vase with the black and white finch is in the best condition, it retains its original shape and only has a few marks/scratched to the surface of the enamel. The vase with the white finch is in damaged condition; in the location of the white finch the vase has a large concaved dent (photographed). The enamel in colour is chipped/missing in places near the dent; the rest of the vase retains its original shape and is in good condition with a few scratches/marks to the enamel.
