A magnificent and large Famille Rose Vase. 40% larger than the referenced 10″ vases from Sotheby’s & Bonhams, this impressive 14.5″ piece is in Daoguang style with an apocryphal Jiaqing mark in iron red. I inherited this from my grandmother, who inherited it from her grandfather. While there is a Jiaqing symbol, it appears to be a clear example of Daoguang reign style. The price reflects the fact that it is Jiaqing seal from Daoguang reign, and thus not marked with the proper period in which it was made. It is, however, a larger piece, and nicer display piece because of it. With the bigger size comes a more globular shape and thus larger canvas to admire the intricate and delicate detailing.
