This impressive pair of large porcelain opposing baluster vases with flared rims is finely painted in enamels. Each with two opposing court scenes with a noble surrounded by numerous both female and male attendants and servants; one scene in the garden with a gazebo, the other at a terrace above river with boats/stylized branches with people of which one standing on a lotus flower head and holding a burning censer. Within an ornamental lower border and a finely painted floral and foliate scroll band with four shaped panels depicting Buddhist symbols, below scenes of figures amongst clouds to the waisted neck and a further floral band to the rim; with green glazed interior. Approximate weight of each vase: 16.1kg and 16.3kg, height: 84cm. The condition is very good, there is some old, very professional restoration, this does not affect the display of the vases.
