This impressive pair of opposing vases of square baluster forms with ring and taotie mask twin handles is finely painted in enamels. Two opposing sides are depicting a figural garden scene of seven wise men of which four are studying a scroll, all below a tree with a large decorative and multi-coloured bat amongst colourful clouds; the other two sides decorated with a leaf-shaped panel of figural court terrace scene also on colourful clouds ground; all within a ruyi upper border and a Greek key, dentil and geometrical bands to the base with a lobed reserve to each side depicting various Buddhist symbols. With similar bands to the rims of the waisted neck painted with flowers in vases on stands; rims with a turquoise glaze interior. Approximate weight of each vase: 5.5kg and 6.6kg, height: 50cm. The condition is perfect with no chips, cracks or restorations or any noticeable damages. Please note that one vase is heavier than the other which is typical for the earlier pieces of porcelain.
